About Our Stop/Go/Flow Class

This feel-good educational class features a blend of trauma informed yoga, breathwork, and body movement. We use high vibe music and a lighthearted relaxed teaching style to provide knowledge and tools anyone can take with them into everyday life, and we have fun doing it!

Stop-Go-Flow is exactly how it sounds. Using a unique blend of body movement (dance) and pranayama (breathwork) we will go through a few rounds of “stop” and “go”.

During Stop we will focus on going within using breathwork and other embodiment tools. During Go we will focus on going without using movement and motivating music. The flow comes from setting intentions for yourself while learning how to remain unattached to the outcome. By practicing the transition from stop, to go, and back to stop, we train our mind-body to relax and function more efficiently. Our bodies learn to be in a state of trust that our intentions and desires will be abundantly met, and that our boundaries are and will be respected. The motive is to unleash the healing power within our own bodies.

Imagine the Go song as your “daily life dance”, you are in the world living your life, doing the day-to-day things that you do. You wake up, get ready for the day, head to school or work, meet with family and friends, cook dinner, etc… During the dance focus on feeling happy and accomplished and carefree. Then the Go song stops, suddenly changing tempo. This mimics our human experience of being triggered or activated, even if it is only a slight annoyance or emotional undercurrent.

Then the the stop song begins. We will then choose a pose (like mountain pose, tree pose, or buddha squat. Any pose works. We recommend a standing pose so that you don’t experience dizziness from rapidly sitting and standing. But listen to your body and do what feels right for you). So… the stop song begins, we prompt you to find your pose, and then you simply listen to our words.

We will guide you through practices you can use anytime and anywhere in your daily life. Even if we don’t get triggered or upset in life, we can still use these tools to check in with ourselves and keep a healthy mind-body-spirit cohesive balance which can yield profound and life changing results. Before each Go song we will set an intention for our “daily life dance” and then begin the movement. You can follow the movements or poses of Christina or myself (Cheyenne) or you can freestyle, as long as you are moving your body. This whole class is very adaptable and can even be done sitting in a chair.

Most importantly, the vibe is trauma sensitive, which encourages students to feel safe in their own bodies and empowers them by reinforcing that students always have a choice and are the one in control of their body. This class will be very beneficial for our society by preventing burnout and building resilience and can be adapted and offered in many different environments.

Our goal is to offer this class wherever we can. If you would like this place offered in your facility, please email us your name, organization, and contact information: info@thenightsun.org
