99 Problems but self-care ain’t one!

Save time and scratch 2 things off your to-do list at once by throwing a Self-Care Party! Combining self-care and your social life can be surprisingly easy and fun. Plus, the benefits for partygoers and everyone affected by the partygoers are undeniable. It’s a high-vibe hit that works instantly, but also has the capacity to resonate, literally, forever. So, believe and know this my friends, (yes you can quote me) that…

Self-care parties have the power to dramatically change the world for the better by one or more individuals evolving intentionally, healing and expanding human consciousness, one high-vibe creation at a time.

But…there’s one problem. Well…more like 99 problems… (shout out to 50 cent) Who the heck has the time and energy to do something so… so… well, selfish? We know there are stacks of chores, responsibilities, deadlines, events, work, and/or school that often come before both self-care and time with loved ones. Maybe it’s already hard enough getting enough sleep each night. We at The Night Sun genuinely empathize, and that’s precisely why we know you will not regret putting this “chore” at the top of your list.

99 Solutions to your 99 problems of self-care party planning

Party Tips:

  1. Go at it solo or include others. The party is amazing with just 1 or 2 people (yes, spending time with yourself counts) but invite whoever and however many people you want. There’s no wrong answer, just follow your heart.
  1. It should feel good before, during, and most of all…after! Self-care is very effective when you enjoy doing it and it brings positive emotion into your heart. Refrain from putting too much stress and pressure on yourself to do it “right”. You want to feel joy or pleasure or excitement. Having fun while prepping and engaging in your self-care will not weaken the effect of the activity, it will increase it.
  2. Be resourceful and share your self-care tools, products, and services with each other.
  3. Pick a location. Your self-care party doesn’t have to be at home. It can be anywhere that fits in with your schedule, lifestyle, and budget. Sometimes it may look more like a self-care “date”. Parties, or dates, could be at a fancy spa, the neighborhood park, over zoom, or even in your car in a parking lot. We’ve done them all (except the fancy spa, but we will get there).
  4. Carve out the time. The energy and ambiance of your party should lie in your focused intention of putting your needs first and filling your cup in whatever way works best for you and stresses you out the least.
  5. No limitations. The number of ways self-care can be expressed is endless and as beautifully complex as the number of people in the world and stars in the sky.

Party Refreshments:

  • 7. Lemon water, cucumber water, or any infused water.
  • 8. Warm bone broth with added healing herbs and spices
  • 9. Herbal tea or other botanicals
  • 10. CBD products

(Pro Tip: Imbibe in moderation on your choice of herb or plant medicine.}

Party Favors:

  • 11. Shower caps (in case of any spa-like activities including showers, baths, or cold-water plunges)
  • 12. Water is always good. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Add alkaline drops or trace minerals for some high-quality H20.
  • 13. A smile and a hug
  • 14. A gift from the heart, even if it’s a hand-me-down.
  • 15. A delicious and nutritious health shake. Smoothie shops have all kinds of health shakes. We love this one made by Remedy. They are at 7/11, on amazon, and in other stores.
  • 16. Glass water bottles like this one, avoid toxins from plastics and help save the environment.

Party Props:

  • 17. Robes
  • 18. Skincare masks
  • 19. Essential oils or candles for aromatherapy
  • 20. Yoga mats
  • 21. Blankets and pillows
  • 22. A beautiful sunny day/evening
  • 23. A beautiful rainy day/evening
  • 24. Rosary or mala beads
  • 25. Crystals, stones, salt rock lamp

Now for the good stuff!

27. Dance

  • 28. Zumba is always fun and can be found in most cities and neighborhoods, and online for free.
  • 29. Twerking. Twerking has been commodified, delegitimatized, and demoralized by modern society, but it’s actually an ancient, sacred, divine feminine expression. The movements we practice when we twerk are beautiful and natural and nothing to be ashamed of. Try a twerking class or exercises and unblock and heal your sacral chakra for increased creativity, inspiration, and passion.
  • 30. Kinrgy combines energy work and physical movement. The first time we tried this, tears rained from our eyes because it provided such an emotional release. Whatever this magic is we absolutely recommend it.
  • 31. Freestyle. Put on a song that moves you (literally) and imagine you are performing on the hit TV show So You Think You Can Dance.

For an at-home self-care party we love to combine hot-cold therapy with Epsom salt and bentonite clay in the hot bath, craniosacral massage, face masks, moisturizing with luxurious lotions and oils while enjoying aromatherapy and water-soluble CBD in drinks of our choice. If you have the time, throw in a moon ritual and tarot. A lot of times, we simply focus on tarot while enjoying healthy snacks and drinks.
  • 99. A perfect combination for a self-care “date” could include a walk in a beautiful park while talking with your friend/s, partner-based exercises and stretches, grounding, sunbathing, meditation, and sharing your favorite new literature or quotes. If the timing aligns, throw in a solstice ritual.

In summary,

You can see from the examples above it is easy to incorporate several of these “chores” into a single self-care sesh without much planning or pre-thought into the mechanics or materials. Include however many activities that fit your time frame. We hope these ideas and resources help you create and seamlessly incorporate self-care parties into your healthy balanced lifestyle often.
